Access Optics (AO) is a pioneer in the field of micro precision optics and optical assemblies for surgical imaging cameras within robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgery platforms. Now on its next generation of highly desired disposable devices for robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgery, the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company has played an important part in providing better outcomes for millions of patients worldwide.

Laurent Benkowski brings nearly three decades of experience developing strategic commercial initiatives for medical device startups and Fortune 500 companies across artificial hearts, cardiac ablation, endoscopic surgery, and remote cardiac monitoring.  He has a wide breadth of experience in building sales channels and collaborative arrangements domestically and internationally contributing to acquisitions by Abbott U.S., AtriCure, and Boston Scientific

He believes commercialization requires continuous communication between the sales organization and product management to deliver products and experiences that drive market adoption.

He has served as Vice President of Clinical Operations at Endoquest Robotics and Xcath Inc. both surgical robotics companies where he led operations in preparation for commercial launch. Prior to this he ran sales and clinical support at Myocardial Solutions a Digital healthcare company based in Raleigh, NC. Additionally, he Directed Sales Operations at Preventice Technologies (Acquired by Boston Scientific) where he built their international presence and created a new business vertical selling to pharmaceutical organizations.

He holds an undergraduate degree in molecular Biology from the Northern Illinois University and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he received the Thiokol award for engineering excellence. He has native fluency in French and is an avid cyclist serving as coach to the local youth cycling team. He lives with his wife and two sons in Houston, Texas.
