Precision laser welding provides the critical bridge between a glass-to-metal sealed component and a fully hermetic optical assembly. Laser-welding of optical elements requires expertise in precise metal/metal seals as well as an understanding of care required for optical materials, surfaces and coatings — it becomes a literal fusion of tooling and process to provide a successful outcome.

Access Optics has manufactured many tens of thousands of laser welded optical assemblies, each one the product of painstaking qualification and process validation to insure control of weld depth, freedom from cracking and embrittlement and control of stress conditions in the optics to prevent downstream failure due to cracking or chipping.
